A cheap reverse butterfly valve is not a myth, but a technical reality for Russian enterprises working with aggressive environments, dust and high temperatures. We have more than once encountered requests from engineers at thermal power plants, cement plants and chemical complexes: “You need a reliable valve at 250 °C, but the budget is limited - where can I find a really cheap check butterfly valve, and not a Chinese “disposable” valve with a crack in the body after six months?” The answer is not in the price tag, but in the design, material and logistics. That's why long-term exporters are increasingly turning to proven solutions from Chengdu.
A check butterfly valve is not just a “valve with a disc.” Its working element is a thin steel disk mounted on an axis at an angle to the flow. As the medium passes through, it is pressed against the sealing ring, blocking reverse movement. With direct flow, it deflects, minimizing hydraulic resistance. Key feature: no spring. This eliminates the fatigue failure associated with spring check valves under vibration or frequent cycling conditions.
We tested three types of butterfly valves in the dust and gas line of a boiler room: with EPDM, Viton and stainless steel 1.4571 seals. The result is that only the latter survived 18 months without replacing the seal at a temperature of 220 °C and SO₂ content up to 1200 mg/m³. A check butterfly valve becomes cheap precisely when you choose not the lowest starting price tag, but the right combination of body material (SCh20 cast iron or steel 1.4308), disk (1.4404) and seal. There are no compromises in this decision - there is a calculation.
Standard diameters are from DN100 to DN1200. Working pressure - up to PN16. Temperature range - from −30 to +350 °C. For customers from Russia, we recommend models with flanges in accordance with GOST 12820–80 and markings in accordance with TR TS 010/2011. This reduces the time required for customs clearance and eliminates disputes during acceptance.
Some people think: “If the manufacturer is in China, then there will be no service.” However, practice shows otherwise. We worked with a project in the Urals: the valves were installed in June, but in September an unusual situation arose with a pressure drop in the pneumatic transport. After 48 hours, an engineer from Chengdu conducted online diagnostics via video link, adjusted the axle installation angle and sent a drawing of the modified bracket. The part arrived by mail in 11 days - without intermediaries, without paying intermediary commissions.
Exporters appreciate clear terms and conditions:
It is these parameters that make the solution cost-effective: you pay not for the logo, but for predictability. No unexpected downtime. No expensive emergency purchases. There is a clear schedule - from application to launch.
A common mistake is ignoring the direction of flow. The butterfly valve only operates in one direction. If you install it upside down, the disc will not press against the seat and the reverse flow will not stop. We always require clients to send a site diagram - and we check the arrow on the drawing. The second mistake is choosing by diameter without taking into account speed. At speeds below 0.8 m/s, the disc may not open completely. At speeds above 4.5 m/s, vibration and noise occur. We calculate the operating speed individually using data from GOST 34597–2020 and an internal database of hydraulic characteristics.
The third mistake is relying on a “universal” seal. EPDM will not withstand paraffin. NBR is not suitable for concentrated alkali. Viton loses elasticity at −25 °C. We do not sell "locks in a box". We sell a solution: “For your environment - this disc, this seal, this heat treatment.”
Chengdu Yizhi Technology Co., Ltd. was established in 2013 as a design institute of Huaxi Chemical Technology, a company with a 28-year history in the design of equipment for the oil refining and chemical industries. The registered capital is 120 million yuan. This is not a trading platform, but a team of 47 engineers who speak Russian, work directly with Russian customers and understand the specifics of the specifications, RD and Rostechnadzor requirements.

A cheap reverse butterfly valve is not the result of a bargain. This is the result of accurate calculations, transparent logistics and a responsible approach to each project. Exporters who started with one order now receive containers twice a quarter. Because their main KPI is not the price per unit, but the total operating costs over five years. And in this calculation, every shutter from Chengdu is a win.
