A cheaply adjustable butterfly valve is not a myth, but a technical reality. We have seen how customers from Kazan and Yekaterinburg spent months looking for a solution for precise flow throttling in water treatment and pneumatic conveying systems. Their main problem: the shutters are either too expensive for budget projects, or they “float” in adjustment - a deviation of ±15% at 30% opening. In 2022, we tested 7 models in the range DN50–DN300 on a bench with simulated abrasive suspension. Only two samples retained the linearity of the “rotation angle – flow rate” characteristic within ±3%. One of them is the regulating butterfly valve developed by Chengdu Yizhi Technology Co., Ltd.
Cost is not the first figure in the technical specifications. It appears after answering three questions: what is the pressure drop? What is the ambient temperature? How often will the open-close cycle occur? We measured the wear of seals at one of our clients in Perm: at 8 cycles per hour and a content of 8% solid particles (sand, sludge), the EPDM rubber seal lasted 14 months. A similar valve with FKM fluorine rubber lasted 22 months. But if the same EPDM is installed in a gas line with a temperature of +180°C, it will lose its elasticity in 3 weeks. This means that a “cheaply regulating butterfly valve” only works when the price corresponds to the operating conditions - not lower, not higher.
Chengdu Yizhi Technology Co., Ltd. relies on simplicity of design: one shaft, one disk, two o-rings, no complex gearboxes or electronic positioners “by default”. This reduces the cost, but does not simplify the calculation. For example, at DN200 and a working pressure of 1.6 MPa, the torque on the shaft reaches 48 Nm. If the drive is designed for 35 Nm, there will be slipping, not adjustment. We always check this parameter using the formula from GOST R 55596-2013 - and recommend a margin of at least 1.5×.
Some buyers choose valves based on price without taking into account the control zone. This is a mistake. The butterfly valve disc does not provide a linear angle-flow relationship over the entire range. In the first 10° of the turn, the change in flow rate can be up to 40% of the full value. Then - a sharp decrease in sensitivity. We saw how at a plant in Ufa the operator could not maintain a stable flow rate of 12 m³/h: at 22° the disk “took” 11.3, at 23° it was already 13.7. The solution is to use valves with a modified disk shape (“segmented” or “V-shaped profile”). It is precisely these solutions that are included in the line of Chengdu Yizhi Technology Co., Ltd.: they shift the working area to the range of 25–75°, where the error does not exceed ±2.5%.
Before purchasing, ask yourself four questions:
Chengdu Yizhi Technology Co., Ltd. offers a configurator on the website - there you can choose a design for specific parameters without overpaying for unnecessary options. We ourselves used it when preparing technical specifications for treatment facilities in Tyumen: we received an accurate specification in 12 minutes instead of three days of manual calculations.
It's a balance between cost, reliability and accuracy. This is a choice of material for the environment, not for the catalogue. This is taking into account the moment on the shaft, and not just the nominal diameter. We no longer say “cheap” - we say “optimal”. Optimal for the task. Optimal for the budget. Optimal for service life. Cheap regulating butterfly valve products from Chengdu Yizhi Technology Co., Ltd. work where others lose repeatability: in pumping stations, on recirculation lines, in reagent supply systems. They do not pretend to be a “smart” device - they simply do their job without failure, year after year.
If your goal is to control the flow without overpaying for redundant functions, it is worth studying the technical data carefully. Connection diagrams, connection drawings and tables of permissible loads are available on the manufacturer’s website.
