Some customers say: “We already have experience with ionic liquids - it didn’t work.” Most often, it’s not the liquid that didn’t work. And the project was built without taking into account three restrictions: temperature range, water content and stability of the fractional composition.

  • Temperature: optimum - 45–62 °C. At 38°C efficiency drops by 22%. At 70 °C, the degradation of the cation begins - and the acidity in the product increases.
  • Water: no more than 80 ppm is acceptable. Above – phase separation, loss of selectivity. We always include a pre-separator with moisture control using a Vaisala DRM40 moisture meter.
  • Faction: The method does not tolerate high levels of dienes and olefins. If the raw material contains more than 12% olefins, preliminary stabilization or adjustment of the composition of the liquid is required.

We refused supplies to two projects because sample analysis showed 19% olefins and 210 ppm water. This is not abandonment of the client. This is to protect his budget. Cheap - not when the contract was signed. Cheap - when the installation operates for 3 years without replacing the reactor unit.

How to choose a reliable exporter - without open data
